FAQ

For beginners just shorts and a tshirt is perfect. No heels required unless you want to.

For beginners no, you’re welcome to bring them if you want to wear them though. For more advanced classes and choreo it’s usually recommended. For Sassy heels & Tease 101 we recommend little heels like burlesque/salsa shoes.

We do a direct wholesale order with Pleaser every term which means you can order shoes directly through us at a cheaper prices than online or in stores. Orders are due in week 3 and will arrive at the studio in week 5 – just in time for week 8 shows 😉

Everyone who brings a kind and friendly atttiude. No matter how you identify you are welcome here. The Golden Era is all a safe and supportive space for all to dance and make friends.

You wouldn’t go to a french class if you were already fluent in french would you? It’s the same with dancing, you don’t need any specific level of anything to join the beginners classes, we will teach you right from the start.

You must be over 18 to participate in classes at The Golden Era Studio but anyone above that is welcome, there is no “too late” in dancing!

Most classes are 1 hour each. (Saturday 4pm contemporary is 1.5hr) Terms run for 8 weeks, so when you book a course you get 8 classes.

You can do a catch up class! As long as the class is your level and there are free spots available you can jump in for a catch up. We will give you all the info at the start of term. Your catch up classes must be done within the same term, they do not roll over into the next term.

Yes absolutely. For beginners pole you will need to complete a term so you cover the basics and we always recommend staying in a levelled pole class even as you move up. But there are heaps of classes that are perfect if you need a little more flexibility for your schedule. You’ll see on the timetable all of the classes that have T at the bottom, these are our tricks classes, so no choreo, these are perfect for casual classes. The best choreo class options are the ones that say C 1-2, this means they learn a new routine every two weeks.

We are a boutique studio with a focus on community, connection and friendship. You will get to know your teacher and class mates, build friendships and enjoy smaller classes than most schools. Each pole has plenty of space around it for you to dance without being in each others way. We value each and every student that walks through our doors, we strive to make you feel at home here. We welcome everyone and provide a safe space to dance, learn and play. Want to check out the space? Drop us a message and we will let you know the best way!

When you book classes you sign up with a 50% deposit, this holds your spot in the class. The remaining 50% is due in week 1.

If you sign up in week 1 or after you will be charged the full amount upon booking.

If you would like to pay your classes off over time we recommend using Zippay, it’s a payment provider that lets you generate a temporary card and pay the full amount off over time. You have to be over 18, have a debit/credit card, a good credit history and apply directly through Zippay.

That’s totally up to you! Most people start with 2 different classes per week to get a taste for it, especially because that is our best discount! Your first course is $260, then if you add a second course in that term it’s only $150. Then they just keep getting cheaper!

Classes are non refundable after booking so please choose carefully. We don’t like this option anymore than you honestly but we have to do this as we need to meet minimum class numbers to run the class, this is a business afterall. So once you’re booked in you agree to the terms and conditions and still owe the remaining 50% class fees in week 1. You may swap a class if you need to change but you cannot ‘unbook’ a course or transfer to another term unless there are serious circumstances.

Usually not as we are in the city most people don’t really come to classes on those days so we’ve found it best to rest up for the night.
